Nested on the south side of Downtown Vancouver across English Bay is a nice neighborhood of Kitsilano. Famous for it's food, shopping, beaches, tree-lined streets and social lounging, Kits (such as accidentally known) is a sought after dream of many communities to be part of. The kit is also known hood to help fuel Vancouver real estate market.
Originally, the Greek district, numerous cultural and culinary changes have occurred in the last 20 years. Although still difficult to pass a block without finding great Greek restaurant mix has grown to offer a fantastic sushi, vegetarian, Italian, Indian, Chinese and of course, West Coast infusion (fancy word for foods that are salmon), to name a few.
If you are shopping in a time of endless amounts of boutique style shops along 4th Avenue and Broadway are sure to satisfy your addiction to rack your credit card. Fine Italian suits, shoes from Paris, Canadian antique furniture, vintage records, organic markets and trendy shops baby, just a few of the many choices that you will encounter. Definitely not cheap, but if you look hard enough you're sure to find a job.
in the amount of summer you can, on any day (unless it rains), drive or walk past the beautiful beaches Kits and wonder how you could possibly squeeze in another beach blanket on the grass and sandy sprawl. Literally hundreds of sun-seekers and jockey for a good spot to sun bathe there, watch the endless beach volleyball game, play Frisbee or bocce ball, picnic or simply enjoy people watching. Most of the time it's a bit of it all. You will not catch anyone going for a swim (as in most cities with the ocean in the vicinity of large urban population), but there are many conservative, which is fine with him.
lush tree-lined streets of the spring, summer and early fall months really give a sense of rainforest oasis. Million dollar home (on the cheap side) and a mixture of low-rise condo buildings and rent apartments to make an interesting combination that makes the kits really diverse neighborhood. With UBC (University of British Columbia), only a few minutes to the west, students make up a good percentage of the rental market, grabbing the apartments in the basements of the 100-year-old character homes. loves old houses with apartments in them.
Quite possibly the biggest draw is the social aspect of Kitsilano. Pull up a chair on the sidewalk living room and enjoy coffee, beer or glass of wine before Christ, and watch people filled the sidewalks bustle with activity. Still busy so laid back in the same breath. People are friendly and outgoing and really enjoy a lazy Saturday afternoon taking in the beauty of the neighborhood.
in the Kitsilano real estate prices have gotten out of reach for many who want to make a home in Vancouver. Houses that cost $ 500,000 10 years ago will now go for over $ 1M and flats which were $ 200,000 more than doubled as well. However, with these high prices, yet there are young professionals with dreams of growing their families flock to this great neighborhood. I have made my home for 14 years and I can not imagine leaving. Kitsilano is without doubt the "Jewel of Vancouver ".
