Living inexpensive way of life in our home for 35 years (how long we are married). We had lived through years of cheap thinking and a lot of tough times. Consumption habits, at least on the staples, have remained the same. So in this current economy does not notice that much difference in how we spend.
I was in commercial real estate brokerage business for the past couple of years before we retired in early 1994, I was 49 years. Commission earnings came in pieces, when the work was good it was very good. We had nice cars, always paid in cash, and life was good. It's still good now, with a lot less money.
My wife solves 90% of spending on household items. Its consumption has remained the same regardless of whether I brought home a big check. It is still a buyer at Goodwill, garage sales and was always on the lookout for bargains. We personifies cheap life without sacrifice.
It is 2009 and our economy is in bad shape to say the least. Many people are tightening their belts. This is nothing new for those of us who have always been living cheap. Here's how you can too.
I hope it's not anything drastic to you, it's all common sense.
Living cost is doable, it's fun, and it is a practical way of life. It has become a way of life for us and it might be for you as well. Enjoy.
